Conference report Technology Forum: 21st Century Post 2014

The conference was attended by over 70 participants representing leading companies from the postal, courier, direct marketing, technology, and consulting sectors.

The aim of the Forum was to present and discuss the main development trends in the postal and courier sectors: digitalization, mobility, automation, self-service, and e-commerce logistics.

The opening speech of the Forum was delivered by Mr. Dariusz Dolczewski, Director of the Postal Department at the Ministry of Administration and Digitization.

Mr. Marek Cynowski, e-commerce Representative of Poczta Polska S.A., discussed the technological challenges related to the so-called last mile and the expectations of e-commerce customers.

In the part of the conference dedicated to mobility challenges, Mr. Guy Perry, Regional Director CEE at Motorola Solutions, and Mr. Piotr Klepczarek, Regional Director EMEA at Zebra Technologies, presented the latest mobility solutions for the postal and courier sectors. Mr. Imre Bogdan, Country Manager of Motorola Hungary, presented a case study on the implementation of the mobile postman service at Magyar Post (Hungarian Post), while Mr. Piotr Miszczak from Zebra Technologies discussed the features and capabilities of portable printers and terminals.

In the section of the conference focused on innovative and new services in the postal and courier market, Mr. Jacek Powałka, International Marketing Director at InPost Sp. z o.o., presented the global expansion of InPost’s parcel locker network and the latest technological innovations enhancing their functionality. Mr. Damian Puczyński, President of the Management Board of Dazumi Sp. z o.o., introduced a new convenience parcel collection and posting service called “Station with a Parcel,” implemented through the PKN Orlen fuel station network. Mr. Piotr Rogut, Development Director at Emerson Polska Sp. z o.o., presented the hybrid mail service e-listy.pl, which enables the optimization of mass correspondence preparation, printing, and delivery processes.

In the next part of the conference, dedicated to global postal market development and technology trends, analytical presentations were delivered by representatives of leading consulting firms: Mr. Michał Mazur, Director at PwC Poland, who discussed the development strategies of postal operators in the digitalization era, and Mr. Paweł Darski, Senior Manager at KPMG, who presented the role of innovation and new technologies in building competitive advantage in the postal market.

The final part of the conference focused on new trends in postal communication, parcel tracking, and electronic delivery confirmation systems.

Mr. Krzysztof Szajt, Sales Director at Pfluger Koperty Sp. z o.o., presented new marketing opportunities offered by the traditional envelope. Mr. Adam Lisek, Process Optimization Engineer at ForPosta S.A., presented an innovative model for registering, tracking, and confirming correspondence deliveries.
