Conference report Technology Forum: 21st Century Post 2013

The conference was attended by over 50 participants representing leading companies from the postal, courier, direct marketing, technology, and consulting sectors.

The aim of the Forum was to present and discuss the main mobile and digitalization trends in the development of the postal services market.

On behalf of the Poczta Polska Capital Group, Mr. Grzegorz Świdwiński, President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska Usługi Cyfrowe Sp. z o.o., presented the development of e-services and new e-products. He introduced, among others, a new model of an automated postal outlet open 24 hours a day, a system for automatic posting of all types of mail (including registered letters and parcels) paid for with an e-stamp, as well as the service neokartka.pl, which enables electronic sending of traditional greeting cards.

The product strategy of the largest alternative postal operator, InPost, was presented by its founder and President of the Management Board, Mr. Rafał Brzoska. He discussed the company’s new products in the areas of hybrid mail (PowerPost), e-commerce logistics (Paczkomaty 24h parcel lockers), and planned automated postal and financial service points.

An analysis of the main trends and directions in the development of mobile postal and courier services was presented by Mr. Maciej Klimek, postal market expert at Deloitte Business Consulting S.A.

In the technological section of the conference, invited international guests shared experiences from cooperation between technology providers and leading postal operators worldwide.

Mr. Menachem Diamantstein from Motorola presented mobile solutions dedicated to postal and courier operators, successfully implemented by such organizations as USPS, FedEx, UPS, and DHL.

Mr. Matthew Parker from Zebra Technologies presented mobile products and solutions supporting the operation of postal counters, self-service postal branches, sorting centers, and Auto-ID solutions assisting postal company workflows.

At the end of the conference, speakers discussed the future of the postal market and its development directions during a panel discussion titled “E-Services and Mobility – Technological Trends in the Global Postal and Courier Market.”
