Conference report Technology Forum: 21st Century Post 2015

The conference was attended by over 70 participants representing key companies from the postal, courier, technology, and consulting sectors.

The aim of the Forum was to present and discuss the main technological trends in the development of the postal and courier sectors: service digitalization, mobility, automation, the development of self-service zones, technological solutions for last-mile challenges, and e-commerce logistics.

The opening speech was delivered by Mr. Marcin Wójtowicz, Director of the Postal Department at the Ministry of Administration and Digitization, who presented the assumptions of Poland’s digitalization strategy, with particular emphasis on plans for implementing public e-services and the benefits resulting from the digitalization of communication services.

Mr. Grzegorz Świdwiński, President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska Usługi Cyfrowe, operator of the Envelo platform, together with Mr. Maciej Dzierżek, presented the advantages of using the trusted Envelo ID account, compliant with the eIDAS regulation, and the Envelo mailbox, which provides modern and versatile business communication.

Mr. Piotr Ponganis from Honeywell Mobility and Scanning presented technological solutions supporting cross-border e-commerce services.

Representatives of Zebra Technologies — Mr. Guy Perry, Mr. Domenico Marchetti, and Mr. Adrian Dinculescu — discussed the impact of mobile technologies on competitive advantage in the postal and courier sector, using examples of implementations at leading operators in Europe.

Mr. Grzegorz Urban from PwC discussed the business and technological conditions for synergy between e-commerce and postal–courier services.

Mr. Rafał Brzoska, President of the Management Board of InPost, presented the business benefits of multichannel communication with customers, illustrated by the operation of InPost parcel lockers.

Mr. Maciej Klimek from Deloitte presented a catalog of innovative services offered by postal operators in Europe and worldwide.

Mr. Joerk Schuessler from Citizen Systems Europe presented the functionalities of modern printing devices designed for mobile postmen, delivery personnel, and couriers.

Ms. Kimberly VanLandingham from Crown Plastic Company presented the advantages of new DuraSurf materials that enable increased parcel and letter flow efficiency in sorting centers.

Mr. Jacek Bucholc, President of the Management Board of WRH Global Polska, discussed innovations in the design and application of modern transport systems for postal and courier operators.

The Platinum Partner of the conference was Poczta Polska, the Gold Partner was Honeywell, the Silver Partner was Zebra Technologies, and the Partners were Citizen Systems Europe, Crown Plastics, and WRH Global.
