Conference report Postal services market in Poland and Europe 2016

On September 14, 2016, in Warsaw, the 12th edition of the conference “Postal Services Market in Poland and Europe 2016” took place.

The honorary patrons of the conference were Mr. Andrzej Adamczyk, Minister of Infrastructure and Construction, and Ms. Magdalena Gaj, President of the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE).

The opening speeches were delivered by Mr. Kazimierz Smoliński, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction, and Mr. Karol Okoński, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Digital Affairs. On behalf of the Office of Electronic Communications, Mr. Karol Krzywicki, Director of the Postal Market Department at UKE, gave his address.

In the operators’ section of the conference, speeches were delivered by, among others, Mr. Przemysław Sypniewski (President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska S.A.), Mr. Sławomir Zawadzki (President of the Management Board of Bank Pocztowy S.A.), and Mr. Paweł Usidus (President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska Usługi Cyfrowe Sp. z o.o.).

Mr. Michał Mazur (Partner, PwC) and Mr. Maciej Klimek (Boston Consulting Group) spoke about the main trends and directions of development in the modern postal and parcel market.

During the discussion panel entitled “Poland and Central Europe – Between the New Silk Road and Amazon’s Expansion,” the topic of cross-border delivery development was discussed by: Mr. Grzegorz Kurdziel (Member of the Management Board of Poczta Polska S.A.), Mr. Pavel Adamovsky (General Director of UPS), Mr. Aurimas Ciagus (Sales Director at Lithuanian Post), and Mr. Maciej Chłodziński (Director at KPMG).

In the discussion panel entitled “Digitalization of Communication Services, Development of e-Government, Building a Digital State,” participants discussed the role of digital postal operators in e-government development. The panel included: Mr. Karol Okoński (Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Digital Affairs), Mr. Karol Krzywicki (Director of the Postal Market Department at UKE), Mr. Gediminas Mazeika (Director at Lithuanian Post), Mr. Łukasz Czechowski (IT Director at PPUC), Mr. Michał Mazur (Partner, PwC), Mr. Maciej Klimek (Boston Consulting Group), and Mr. Wojciech Dziomdziora (Of Counsel, Domański Zakrzewski Palinka law firm).

Technological challenges of the modern postal market were presented by, among others, Mr. Łukasz Krzyczkowski (PWPW S.A.) and Mr. Jacek Bucholc (President of the Management Board, WRH Global Polska Sp. z o.o.).

The conference was attended by over 100 participants (including 32 Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Board Members) representing 34 companies from Poland and Europe.
