Conference report Gas for Poland 2016
The opening speech of the conference was delivered by Mr. Piotr Naimski, Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, who spoke about the importance of strategic diversification investments for Poland’s energy security.
Mr. Janusz Kowalski, Vice President of the Management Board of PGNiG S.A., presented the company’s development strategy for the coming years, particularly plans concerning the Norwegian gas pipeline, PGNiG S.A.’s involvement in the regional and global LNG market, and the strategy to strengthen the company’s position in the domestic market.
Mr. Adam Janczak, Director of the EU Economic Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented the priorities of Polish diplomacy in strengthening the country’s energy security, particularly in relation to the construction of Nord Stream 2, the Energy Union, and the EU Energy Security Package.
Mr. Paweł Jakubowski, Director of the Development Division at OGP Gaz-System S.A., spoke about the current state and planned expansion of the national transmission infrastructure, as well as plans for regional integration of transmission systems along the North–South axis. Mr. Piotr Dworak, Director at EuroPolGaz S.A., discussed the regulatory, legal, and technical conditions of virtual and physical reverse flow on the Yamal pipeline.
In the later part of the conference, experts from renowned consulting firms and law offices discussed major trends in the global and European gas markets, the significance of the EU Winter Package for the Polish and regional gas markets, and the technical, business, and legal aspects of gas import and cross-border trade.
The conference brought together nearly 60 participants (one-third of whom were top-level managers, including Presidents, Vice Presidents, Board Members, Executive and Managing Directors) representing 27 companies from the gas, fuel, chemical, energy, and consulting sectors.
